How to conjugate the simple present in Portuguese

When you are learning Brazilian Portuguese, one of the difficulties you find is how to conjugate the simple present in Portuguese.

In Portuguese in the simple present we need to conjugate verbs by people

In Portuguese there are regular and irregular verbs, regular verbs have a pattern

Regular verbs end in AR, ER and IR

For example:

FALAR, ESCREVER, ABRIR

There are 4 people who always conjugate verbs:

1- EU

2- VOCÊ / ELE / ELA

3- NÓS

4- VOCÊS / ELES

For the person 1- EU, with verbs end in AR, ER, IR, we take the letter R and add the letter O

For example:

FALAR - EU FALO

ESCREVER - EU ESCREVO

ABRIR - EU ABRO

For the person 2- VOCÊ / ELE / ELA, with verbs end in AR, ER, we take the letter R

For example:

FALAR - VOCÊ/ELE/ELA FALA

ESCREVER - VOCÊ/ELE/ELA ESCREVE

For the person 2- VOCÊ / ELE / ELA, with verb end in IR, we take the letters IR, and add the letter E

For example:

ABRIR - VOCÊ/ELE/ELA ABRE

For the person 3 - NÓS, with verbs end in AR, ER, IR, we take the letter R and add the letters MOS

For example:

FALAR - NÓS FALAMOS

ESCREVER - NÓS ESCREVEMOS

ABRIR - NÓS ABRIMOS

For the person 4- VOCÊS / ELES, with verbs end in AR, ER, we take the letter R, and add the letter M

For example:

FALAR - VOCÊS/ELES FALAM

ESCREVER - VOCÊS/ELES ESCREVEM

For the person 4- VOCÊS / ELES, with verb end in IR, we take the letters IR, and add the letters EM

For example:

ABRIR - VOCÊS/ELES ABREM

1- EU

2- VOCÊ / ELE / ELA

3- NÓS

4- VOCÊS / ELES

Para a pessoa 1- EU, com verbos terminados em AR, ER, IR, pegamos a letra R e adicionamos a letra O

Por exemplo:

FALAR - EU FALO

ESCREVER - EU ESCREVO

ABRIR - EU ABRO

Para a pessoa 2- VOCÊ / ELE / ELA, com verbos terminados em AR, ER, utilizamos a letra R

Por exemplo:

FALAR - VOCÊ / ELE / ELA FALA

ESCREVER - ESCREVER VOCÊ / ELE / ELA

Para a pessoa 2- VOCÊ / ELE / ELA, com o final do verbo em IR, pegamos as letras IR, e adicionamos a letra E

Para a pessoa 3 - NÓS, com verbos terminados em AR, ER, IR, pegamos a letra R e adicionamos as letras MOS

Por exemplo:

Para a pessoa 4- VOCÊS / ELES, com os verbos terminados em AR, ER, pegamos a letra R e adicionamos a letra M

Por exemplo:

ESCREVER - VOCÊS / ELES ESCREVEM

Para a pessoa 4- VOCÊS / ELES, com o final do verbo em IR, pegamos as letras IR, e adicionamos as letras EM
