Hello! My name is Luiza, and I'm from Florianópolis, in southern Brazil. For the past four years, I've been living in Porto, in northern Portugal, where I completed my degree in Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. Living here has allowed me to explore different varieties of Portuguese and teach both Brazilian and European Portuguese to people from all over the world.

As part of my studies, I also learned English and German, which helps me connect with students during lessons. Even though I was born in the capital of Rio de Janeiro and raised in the countryside of the same state, before I moved to Maceió I have lived in the city of Maringá - Paraná state - for 7 years, where I graduated in LETRAS - English Language and Literature from the State University of Maringá. I enjoy sports, music, animals, cinema, beaches, literature as well as learning/researching subjects that are interesting to me.

I'm 36 years old, I live in Campinas, a city in the countryside of the state of São Paulo, and I have a dog who is my little darling, Bartolomeu.

I’ve always loved languages.  I taught myself English as a teen, so I know how challenging (and rewarding!) learning a new language can be. That’s what inspired me to start teaching, and I’ve now been helping students learn English and Portuguese for over five years. 

I’m currently living in Canada, which gives me an even better understanding of what it’s like to adapt to a new culture and language. I’d love to help you feel more confident and comfortable speaking Portuguese.

My name is João Paulo — I know what you’re thinking: it’s kinda hard to pronounce, right?! But it’s the Brazilian equivalent to “John Paul” in English, so feel free to call whatever you’d like 

I’m a proud Carioca, born and raised in the wonderful city of Rio de Janeiro — where I still live in the present day. I’ve been tutoring English to Brazilians for about 5 years now and Portuguese to foreigners for about a year.

Languages have always been a big passion of mine. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by the way people communicate around the world. I’m a self-taught English and Spanish speaker, studied French for two years in college, and recently started learning Italian — because why not add one more to the list, right?

I love connecting with people from different cultures and helping them learn in a fun, relaxed, and engaging way. I truly believe that learning a language should be something you enjoy, not something you stress about.
